About
Ask when and why before you ask how.
Founders are taught how to raise, build, and sell. Fitzroy & Co. exists to help them ask whether, when, and why first.
Brian Bartles
Fitzroy & Co. is the advisory and education practice of Brian Bartles, Professor of Venture Finance and Entrepreneurship at SMU's Cox School of Business.
Brian has taught at SMU for 14 years and developed the school's Venture Finance Certificate Program. His professional background spans investment banking, venture capital, private equity, and hedge fund management, and he has founded and run companies of his own.
The courses come from that mix of classroom and deal table. Founders are taught in detail how to raise money, how to build, and how to sell, and are rarely taught to ask whether, or when, they should. The Capital Ledger, the three courses, and one-to-one advisory are meant to fill that gap.
